Day 3 for me, today is Friday 16 August 2024 which is 11th Menachem Av 5784

Interesting what you said about reasons why people don't commit or give up. I'm doing this a long time later and it's easy as I can fit it in to when I have time, but my concern was always that I wouldn't be free every day at the time of the Daf. In addition, I can miss a day and just continue from where I left off, and missing a day will mostly because of Shabbos or Yom Tov. As Shabbos still goes out quite late I doubt I'll be able to do it tomorrow night, and in a few weeks we will have "3 day" Yom Tov 3 times (given I'm outside Israel). I haven't looked to see how you handled that here when you couldn't record them, but by Pesach you were already in Covid lockdowns.

I have set myself the challenge to do the entire Daf Yomi from youtube. Would only be 6 days a week because I can't use youtube on Shabbos although one on Friday and one on Motzei Shabbos may be possible. Or I could do 2 on one day. In any case, let's see if I can achieve it. I'll be 67 when I finish if I do a daf a day, but hey, let's go, and the best place to start is the beginning. Today is the day after Tisha B'Av.

Rabbi Eli, please explain what you meant on .דף מח when you said (24:06 into the shiur) that the husband has nothing to lose by giving the גט. Isn't he going to lose money when he pays the כתובה?

Talking about this Jewish comedian I had been on a Shidduch date, at the olive tree. NYC Villiage area on Bleeker and Mcdaugel and Jerry Seinfeld sat right down on the left side of me. My date started screaming I have to get a camera (pre- cellphone days). As she was purchasing a disposable camera, I decided to go over to speak with Seinfeld. I had given him a mesila yesharim book. He told me I have my own library and that he doesn’t accept gifts. He then scribbled his name inside my Sefer. I told him that I had just returned from learning at Aish Hatorah in israel. The entire year my Chavrusah , whose name is JEFFREY Seinfeld told me that he is cousins with jerry Seinfeld and tried to reach out to him. He even left a script for one of his shows. At that point, when I mentioned his cousin he immediately got up from his seat, looked irritated and walked out. Couldn’t understand why the conversation ,which began unremarkable ended up with an abrupt exit. The next day I picked up His autobiography at the library. He mentioned that after the holocaust ,and arriving in NYC, his cousins wouldn’t take them in. That his family became homeless when these cousins refused to help them.

Great story you shared about the guy sharpening his knife… It’s a true story but the beginning was missed. I can’t repeat it because I don’t remember all the details, but it’s worth looking into and sharing the whole story.
